2008 Summer Dance Camps for Kids
When it comes to dancing, summer is not just for kids. Artistic Motion Dance has programs for all ages under the tutelage of experienced, professional dance instructors. From creative movement to hip-hop to modern to classic dance, we have a program for your style.
Information on our 2009 summer dance camps will be available in 2009. Here is a look at what we did in 2008:
Advanced Ballet Classes

Dance, Arts, and Tumbling Camp

Ages: 3-5
Dates: June 16-20
Time: 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m
Fee: $110
Ages: Rising K-2nd Grades
Dates: July 28-August 1
Time: 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m
Fee: $160
Fee includes a ballerina tutu for the girls and a t-shirt for the boys to take home.
This camp will get your child's creative juices flowing for the summer. Each student will learn creative movement, tumbling, stretching, and basic dance steps. We will create arts and crafts that will be used in different dances. On the last day we will have a short showing for the parents, thirty minutes before camp is over.
For boys and girls with dance experience as well as children who want to try dance for the first time.
Instructors:
Brandi Scott has a BA in Dance from UNC-Greensboro and eight years of teaching experience in dance. She has danced with Sidelong Dance Company of Winston Salem and X-Factor of Boone and is currently working at Artistic Motion with ages 3-adult.
Lynn Angermeier has a BS in Education from the University of Texas, has 14 years of educational teaching experience (ten of those with Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten), and has been performing and taking dance classes for 9 years.
Jeanne Alala danced in the European touring company of 42nd Street and the National touring companies of Anything Goes and My One and Only. She has danced with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall and Cavalcade of Stars at Carnegie Hall. Her dance education was attained at The Dance Center in New York and Iowa State University. She is currently teaching ages 3-adult at Artistic Motion.

Cheerleading Camp

Ages: Rising 3rd -6th Grades

Time: 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Fee includes a t-shirt for each student to take home.
These camps are for children who want to learn how to be a cheerleader! They will learn basic cheerleading movements, cheers, chants, jumps, and two dances. On the last day of camp the parents are invited to come for a showing to see everything that the young cheerleaders have learned over the week.
For children with or without cheerleading experience.
Instructors:
Jeanne Alala began her cheerleading experience in high school and advanced to greater heights by spending eight years as a company member of Antigravity (a Cirque du Soleil-style company). She is a Nationally ranked competitive gymnast and was a team coach at High Point Gymnastics.
Siedah Holmes has been dancing and cheerleading since the age of six. She was a cheerleader at Grimsley High School, A&T State University, and was a S. Professional cheerleader for the arena football team, "The Greensboro Revolutions." She has six years of teaching experience.

All girls dream of tutus and pointe shoes... This camp will give your child the chance to explore the wonder of becoming a prima ballerina. Through the use of basic dance training, arts and crafts, music, and lots of fun, each girl will spend the rest of her summer playing the Beautiful Ballerina! A brief performance, in costume, will be given for the parents at the end of camp.
Instructor:
Sara Hammond has a BA in Dance from the University of Nebraska and seven years of teaching experience. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, in Washington D.C., and at The American College Dance Festival. She is currently teaching ballet at The Dance Shop, in Asheboro.

Exploring Hip-Hop and Modern Dance

This workshop will give students the chance to explore Hip-Hop and Jazz in a fun and friendly atmosphere. This week we are going to let go of our inhibitions, challenge our habitual ways of moving, and find unique and creative ways to move our bodies! Comfortable, movable clothing is preferred.
For guys and girls with dance experience as well as students who want to try dance for the first time.
Instructor:
Siedah Holmes teaches youth and Adult Hip Hop. She studied dance from the age of six to eighteen at Beryl's Love Dance and Music Showcase and has taught classes there since 2002. She danced with Golden Delite, part of the A & T State University Marching Band, and while she was attaining her degree in Spanish, she studied Modern and Cultural dance. She has six years of teaching experience.
